AFA stands for traditional family values, focusing primarily on the influence of television and other media - including pornography - on society.
Care for the Family
A Christian organization based in Wales dedicated to promoting strong family life in the United Kingdom.
CARE
Christian Action Research and Education is a mass-membership charity providing resources, undertaking caring work and bringing Christian insight and experience to matters of public policy, education and practical caring initiatives.
Centre for Policy Studies
An independent think-tank which aims to to promote coherent and practical public policy proposals based on a set of core principles, including individual choice and responsibility, and the concepts of duty, family, liberty, and the rule of law. The Centre has published some very helpful material on marriage and the family.
Christian Institute
A registered charity providing a Christian voice in ethical debates and public policy issues in the UK. They are committed to defending the institution of marriage and the sanctity of human life from conception.
CIVITAS: The Institute for the Study of Civil Society
An independent think tank dedicated to deepening public understanding of the institutions, beliefs and values which are fundamental to a free and democratic society. Analyses of the family focus on improving understanding of the methods of raising children which have worked best, including, on the one hand, families based on the lifelong commitment of both parents to each other and to their children; and on the other, families in which one parent is absent.
Family Policy Studies Centre
An independent organisation set up to analyse and disseminate information about the family and to explore the association between family trends and public policy. Although the Centre closed in April 2001, its website continues to provide a useful point of reference for students of the family.
Family Research Council
America's leading pro-family public policy organisation.
Focus on the Family
A Christian organisation in the US seeking to help preserve traditional values and the institution of the family.
Heritage Foundation's Family Page
This American research and educational institute believes the family is "society's most important institution". Civitas highly recommends the Heritage Foundation's series of backgrounders on the family written by Patrick Fagan.
Institute for American Values
The Institute's mission is to examine the status and future of the family as an institution and the sources of competence, character, and citizenship.

2-in-2-1 aims to link married and engaged couples with advice and services for every aspect of marriage.
Alliance for Marriage
An American organisation dedicated to promoting marriage and addressing the epidemic of fatherless families.
National Marriage Project
This American organisation seeks to strengthen the institution of marriage by providing research and analysis that informs public policy and educates the public. It argues that marriage is declining as an institution for childbearing and child rearing, with devastating consequences for millions of children.
One Plus One
One Plus One monitors contemporary marriages and relationships, focusing on understanding the causes, effects and prevention of relationship breakdown, which it has pioneered as a public health issue.
Smart Marriages
The Coalition for Marriage, Family and Couples Education serves as a clearinghouse to help couples locate and select marriage, family and couples courses.
Time for Families
Time for Families strives for committed personal relationships by teaching relationship skills at appropriate stages in family life and raising public awareness of good relationship practices.

Full Time Mothers
An organisation which aims to promote understanding of the child's need for a full-time mother, enhance the status and self esteem of mothers at home, and campaign for changes in the tax and benefits system and to employment policy, in order to give more women the choice to be full-time mothers.
Mothers at Home
America's first and largest national nonprofit organisation supporting mothers who have chosen, or would like to choose, to be at home to nurture their families.
National Family and Parenting Institute
The NFPI was set up by the British government to "support parents in bringing up their children, to promote the well-being of families and to make society more family friendly." This site provides good access to resources and advice for parents. However, families based on marriage are rarely mentioned.
National Fatherhood Initiative
This American website offers advice, encouragement, and tips from and for fathers. Links from this page can take you to sites of organisations to help fathers learn skills and gather information. "NFI encourages and supports family and father-friendly policies, develops national public education campaigns to highlight the importance of fathers in the lives of their children, provides motivation for national and local coalition building, and provides information to individual men to help them be better fathers."
WATCh? What About the Children?
A national charity which promotes parental responsibility with particular emphasis on the emotional needs of children during their crucial first three years.

The Abstinence Clearinghouse
An American non-profit educational organization that promotes the appreciation for and practice of sexual abstinence through distribution of age-appropriate, factual and medically-accurate materials.
Love Matters
An American e-magazine for students which argues that the solution to abortion is self-control, not "birth control."
True Love Waits
An international campaign designed to challenge students to remain sexually abstinent until marriage.

Cato Institute's Education and Child Policy
This American research group explores policy solutions to a variety of children’s issues, including infant and toddler care, child care, adoption, and social services, emphasizing the importance of personal solutions and family responsibility.
Centre for Analysis of Social Exclusion (CASE)
Located within the Suntory and Toyota International Centres for Economic and Related Disciplines (STICERD) at the London School of Economics and Political Science, and largely funded by the Economic and Social Research Council, CASE investigates the individual characteristics and social institutions which prevent exclusion, and promote recovery, regeneration and inclusionas they relate to five inter-related strands: economic exclusion and income dynamics; social welfare institutions; family change and civil society; community, area polarisation and regeneration; and exclusion and society.
Joseph Rowntree Foundation
The largest social policy research and development charity in the UK. The Foundation's Children, Young People and Families Committee funds research and policy and practice development work on issues relating to children, young people and families.
